Make Music in Athens
Make Music Day is coming to Athens in 2026!
Make Music Athens invites lifelong locals and new neighbors alike to add their voices to the ever-growing musical story of our town. From the heart of downtown to our neighborhoods and gathering spaces, we’re celebrating the creativity that makes Athens such a special place.
We welcome singers, rappers, choirs, worship teams, unamplified instrumentalists of all kinds, percussionists, experimental musicians, tap dancers, and anyone else with a song in their heart. Musicians of every style and background are encouraged to take part, and we are especially excited to partner with local churches to showcase the rich musical traditions and faith-based music that are such an important part of our community.
Make Music Athens is open to everyone—professionals and amateurs, children and adults, solo performers and groups. If you have the desire to perform, you have a place here.
Make Music Day is a free, outdoor, worldwide music celebration held each year on June 21, the first day of summer. Music of all genres fills public spaces including parks, patios, sidewalks, church grounds, and public squares. What began in 1982 has grown into a global celebration in more than 750 cities around the world, and Athens is proud to be part of that movement.

Make Music Athens welcomes musicians, singers, rappers, and instrumentalists of all kinds to come together and create a vibrant musical tapestry for the Athens community on June 21. Church choirs, worship teams, glee clubs, vocal quartets, MCs, marching bands, solo artists, and full ensembles are all encouraged to participate.
To take part in Make Music Athens, artists can register by creating a profile through our online matchmaker. Artist profiles include contact information, audio samples, and the type(s) of music you wish to perform. Participants may also upload photos and share social media or website links to help venues and organizers learn more about their work.

To take part in Make Music Athens, businesses that are interested in becoming a venue can register by creating a profile through our online matchmaker. Venue profiles include contact information, location, and Time slots available. Venues may also upload photos and share social media or website links to help Artists and organizers learn more about their space.

To bring this vibrant day to life, we’re looking for volunteers to help with:
- Event setup and breakdown
- Welcoming and guiding performers
- Assisting with sound and equipment
- Social media and photo documentation
