Piano Lessons with Neko Cortez- CANCELLED
As a kickoff for Pianos in the Parks, enjoy a free mini piano lesson with Neko “Suave” Cortez. Neko Cortez is a keyboard-instrumentalist, composer, ethnomusicologist, and educator originally from Dayton, Ohio (the home of the funk), now based in Chicago. He was introduced to music at a young age through his father, who is a bass player. Neko quickly fell in love with music that makes people dance, and he keeps that rhythm close to his heart. As an educator, Neko teaches with the philosophy that music is a language and it is best learned through having musical conversation together. He seeks to guide students towards creating music that is a reflection of their own life, and to empower students by encouraging them to forge musical connections with their roots.
