Make Music Fullerton

BARDEUX Deluxe

BARDEUX is an Orange County based synth-pop duo formed in 1988 by Producer Jon St. James and founding member Stacy "Acacia" Smith. Both St. James and Smith are long-time Fullerton residents. St. James and Smith intended their first recording together to serve as a demo. However, “Three Time Lover” was fast-tracked onto the LA-based Power 106 FM Radio playlist on the strength of the song’s infectious groove. Within weeks, BARDEUX signed a multi-album deal with Enigma Records. The duo’s first full-length album Bold as Love was released in 1988 and was soon followed by Shangri-La in 1989. In the late 1980’s, BARDEUX broke into Billboard Magazine’s top 40 hit list with their sultry ballad “When We Kiss” and enjoyed several weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Hot Dance Singles sales charts with their songs “Magic Carpet Ride” and “I Love the Bass”. Radio, TV and club play allowed the band to tour throughout the world.
