Nief-Norf Presents: Sonic Scribbles Elementary Workshop

Nief-Norf is a Knoxville-based community of curious listeners, adventurous artists, and innovative scholars. Specializing in contemporary chamber music, Nief-Norf presents performances, educational programs, and collaborative experiences that celebrate creativity, experimentation, and connection through sound. Sonic Scribbles is a playful and inspiring workshop designed to introduce musicians age 4-12 to the adventurous world of new music through graphic scores and improvisation. Participants will learn about the history and purpose of graphic scores in contemporary music, and how composers and performers use them as tools for expression, communication, and collaboration. Participants will explore graphic scores, create and perform their own alongside Nief-Norf musicians, and take part in a guided improvisation that celebrates imagination, creativity, and the many ways sound can tell a story.
