Make Music Day

Bob Riggs

Tricked into taking classical guitar lesson when I was 13 in 1973. Thought I was going to be the next Jimmy Page. Grudgingly went to my first lesson with the late and great Max Zickafoose. He told me if I learned classical guitar, I could learn any style. Well...not exactly true. But it was close enough. Instead of Hendrix, Richards, and Page; I learned Carcassi, Bach, and Tarrega. Despite myself, I loved it! Max was almost right. Folk, Country, and Easy Listening are transferable. And, in my few performances I have found if all else fails, start strumming and do your open mic winning performance of Bob Dylan I performed at Bullwinkles Bar in Columbia, MO in 1983. I am a retired Marine officer, retired Kansas City MO HS math teacher, and UMKC physics professor. Been around the world three times in good places and bad. Somehow, wound up back home and want to just stay right here with my wife Ann and enjoy Liberty. Hope folks come out and enjoy the show! I'll do my best!
