Make Music McDowell County

Make Music McDowell County is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the city.

Our ‘official’ Make Music Day event in McDowell County will take place in downtown Marion at City Stage from 5 to 7pm on Friday June 21st, 2024. If any other person or organization would like to host an event that day and would like help getting the work out, email us at mcdowellarts@gmail.com

Jam + Harmonize + Open Mic

The FCS String Band and Chorus (led by Freddy Bradburn) will perform a set of both old time and original songs. Following their set will be an opportunity for the audience to participate in a beginner harmonica melody led by Mr. Freddy (Make Music Day is providing 30 free harmonicas for the event!).

After the harmonica lesson, individuals and groups may sign up to perform a song ‘open mic’ style. You may register in advance by emailing McDowell Arts Council at mcdowellarts@gmail.com or on the paper sign-up on event-day. All performances must be appropriate for all ages.
