Make Music Newark

Make Music Day – Newark

is June 21, 2024

Visit Newark.MakeMusicDay.Org for a full list of activities.

Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music is celebrated on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in dozens of countries around the world.

Make Music Day – Newark began in 2021, led by the Newark Arts Ed Team as a “safe summer” initiative. This year, Make Music Day – Newark will be lead in a special collaboration between Newark Arts, Arts Ed Newark, NJEDA, Newark City Parks, The City of Newark, Newark Arts & Education District and led by Make Music Day Ambassador and Newark based Artist, Daryl L. Stewart.

Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day – Newark is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.

Whos Organizing This?

Make Music Day – Newark is a collaboration between Newark Arts, Arts Ed Newark, NJEDA, Newark City Parks, NJEDA and the Newark Arts & Education District. We are a member affiliate of the Make Music Alliance, a network of local organizations representing 80+ cities/towns in more than 30 states and several countries.
