From a lively Make Music Day Lounge at Equal Space to free community classes and an exciting block party, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for updates on how to apply, participate, or get involved in Make Music Day 2025. Let’s make music together
About Make Music Day – Newark
Make Music Day – Newark began in 2021, led by the Newark Arts Ed Team as a “safe summer” initiative. This year, Make Music Day – Newark will be lead in a special collaboration between Newark Arts, Arts Ed Newark, NJEDA, Newark City Parks, The City of Newark, Newark Arts & Education District and led by Make Music Day Ambassador and Newark based Artist, Daryl L. Stewart.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day – Newark is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
Who is Organizing This?

Make Music Day – Newark is a collaboration between Newark Arts, Arts Ed Newark, Newark City Parks Foundation, City of Newark, Newark Arts & Education District, TD Charitable Foundation, NJ Symphony, NJEDA and Equal Space. We are a member affiliate of the Make Music Alliance, a network of local organizations representing 80+ cities/towns in more than 30 states and several countries.
