Special story time guest Carol Parent of Beardsley Library Michelle Fenton Begley, “Shello” is a multifaceted vocalist, voice teacher and teaching artist. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Afro-American Vocal Jazz Performance from UMass and was featured on the recording Meditations by legendary jazz composer/saxophonist Yusef Lateef. As a founding member of the children’s duo, Starr & Shello, Michelle composed/performed original songs influenced by jazz, blues, and the traditional American folk repertoire. For over a decade, Michelle has developed and led innovative music & movement workshops for children and families in partnership with the Canton Public Library, KidsPlay and the American Mural Project. As a soprano, Michelle has sung with the acclaimed choirs of Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus for over 20 years, recording Sacred Feast and Chakana Angelicus during that time. Michelle is a founding member of the Americana trio, In Trine, and performs regularly around Connecticut.
