Washington Monument band

The Washington Monument is a group of 5 that rehearse in an apartment on Washington Avenue in brownstone Brooklyn, exploring an eclectic mix of rootsy bluegrass, blues, R&B, folk and rock covers. Their blend of mandolin, guitar, bass, harmonica, drums and vocals features a jam-style vibe. They first organized as a trio to play a couple songs at the 2024 Prospect Park Track Club talent show; soon a neighbor and a friend joined and their sound has been evolving ever since. The band plays open mics and outdoor venues around Brooklyn, such as the Clinton Hill Branch Library plaza for Make Music New York 2024. The band members - Pierre Langlois on guitar, Sam Bojarski on mandolin, Marcha Johnson on harmonica, Drew Gibson on guitar and drums and Damian Panitz on bass and guitar - switch around leads, vocals and harmony. Their musical backgrounds include heavy metal bands, bluegrass groups and local jams, jazz ensembles, classical chamber music, gospel choir.
