Misti Peruvian Jazz Project
The Misti Peruvian Jazz Ensemble is a dynamic group that blends the rich traditions of Peruvian music with the language of contemporary jazz. Founded by Sofia Carrasco (visual artist, saxophonist and composer) and Victor Sotomayor (pianist and composer), the ensemble explores the intersection of Andean and Afro-Peruvian rhythms with jazz improvisation, creating a unique and captivating sound. The group’s repertoire features original compositions and innovative arrangements of traditional Peruvian music, reimagining styles such as tunantada, landó, and festejo with rich harmonies, fluid improvisation, and modern jazz sensibilities. Their performances are both a celebration of cultural heritage and a platform for creative exploration.
