In 1982, the French Ministry of Culture launched Make Music Day, also known as Fête De La Musique, on the summer solstice. They urged everyone to step outside and make music. From professionals to curious onlookers, people joined the celebration. Free performances echoed across the city, from morning to night, in parks, gardens, streets, rooftops, restaurants, and shops. Now, over 40 years later, Make Music Day resonates in over a thousand cities across dozens of countries worldwide!
Each June 21, Orange County rocks Make Music Day! Unleash your inner musician – all skill levels welcome. Join us in celebrating Orange County’s diverse musical talent, passion, and unique culture. Don’t miss the chance to be part of the festivities!

Make Music Day relies on host venues to provide space for musicians to perform – in your living room, on your porch, or in a corner of your business!
Interested in being a host venue next year? Whether you have a porch, garden, office, sidewalk, café, or other space in mind, it’s easy and there’s no cost to participate.
Perform
Make Music Day is an all-ages, all-inclusive celebration of music open to ANYONE who wants to participate! Every kind of musician – young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion. If you are interested in performing next year we’d love to have you!
