Make Music Waco is part of the global Make Music Day celebration, a free, citywide festival of music happening every year on June 21! Whether you’re a seasoned performer, a casual music lover, or someone who just wants to join in the fun, this day is for everyone.
Originating in France as Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day is now celebrated in over 1,000 cities worldwide. Join us as we make Waco sing, strum, dance, and celebrate music in all its forms – from live performances to hands-on experiences. This is Waco’s first year participating, and we’re inviting our community to fill the city with music!
Waco is proud to be a Music Friendly Texas Community designated by the Texas Music Office and to be home to a thriving community of talented music professionals.
Make Music Waco is coordinated in partnership by Texas Music Cafe, Creative Waco, and the City of Waco’s Destination Waco department.
Participate
Step 1: Sign up to participate as a performer/musician or a host venue at the Make Music Waco matchmaking portal!
Step 2: Browse the list of other registered participants to match and partner with for an event listing. The event is coordinated between participants and must be approved by both parties within the portal to be finalized.
Step 3: Use our poster generator to promote your event (whether live or virtual), and use the hashtags #MakeMusicDay and #MakeMusicWaco when you share it!
Step 4: Check back here to see all finalized events listed below! A full map and schedule will be available closer to the event, which you can use to plan your musical journey through Waco.

What is Make Music Waco?
Make Music Waco is a free, family-friendly citywide celebration of music held on June 21st as part of the global Make Music Day movement. It’s a day when music lovers and musicians of all styles and skill levels come together to perform, create, and share music in public spaces across the city.
Where will Make Music Waco happen?
Performances will take place all over the city, on sidewalks, in parks, at local businesses, and in other community spaces. A full map and schedule will be available closer to the event, which you can use to plan your musical journey through Waco!
Who can perform?
Everyone is invited to take part, play, and perform! Whether you’re a seasoned performer, an emerging artist, or just someone who loves to sing in the shower, there’s a place for you.
Please note that Make Music Waco is a family-friendly, community celebration intended for all people and all ages. To help ensure a welcoming environment for everyone, the following content is not permitted in any performances, signage, or materials:
– Vulgar, obscene, profane, or otherwise inappropriate language or gestures
– Overtly political or partisan content, including but not limited to campaign messaging, slogans, or endorsements of political candidates or parties
– Overtly religious content or messaging, such as organized worship services, preaching, or proselytizing activities
Make Music Waco organizers reserve the right to remove any participant or performance that does not follow these guidelines.
How do I get involved?
You can sign up to perform or host a performance at your business or property, or just show up and enjoy the day!
If you’re a musician, performer, or potential host venue, you’ll need to register through the Make Music Waco matchmaking portal to coordinate an event and officially be part of Make Music Day.
Do I need to pay to attend or participate?
All Make Music Waco events are free and open to the public. Just show up, follow the music, and enjoy the celebration – no tickets, wristbands, or sign-ups needed!
Why is Waco celebrating Make Music Day?
Waco is joining over 1,000 cities worldwide in celebrating the joy of making music. Make Music Day is all about community, creativity, and connection, and we believe Waco is the perfect place to make some joyful noise together! This is our city’s first year participating, and we’re excited to see how our local talent and spirit shine.
