Pilgrimage
Join conductor James John and a headlamp-clad group of singers for a musical walk through the Upper West Side, performing medieval melodies once sung by pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela. The procession concludes with “Whatever Happens Next,” a new work by award-winning British composer Pete M. Wyer, expanding on his 2024 Make Music Winter piece “Street Motet No. 1.” The motet serves as a meditation and a wish of goodwill for New Yorkers. Singers of all levels—from beginners to early-music specialists—are welcome, with music provided. Participants are encouraged to dress warmly and travel light. Pete M. Wyer is known for his pioneering work in spatial audio and innovative composition, with commissions across the UK and US. James John, in his 13th season leading the Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble, also directs choral programs at Queens College-CUNY.
