Make Music Oakland

Make Music Oakland

Make Music Oakland is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year. This is Oakland’s first year being part of the international Make Music Day, and we are focusing on The Laurel District as part of the Live in The Laurel music series.

About

Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music is celebrated on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in dozens of countries around the world.

Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion shares their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.

2024 will be concentrated in the Laurel District of Oakland, but we anticipate expansion citywide for Saturday, June 21, 2025.

We will be holding lessons and have a “petting zoo” of instruments at Communite Table (4171 MacArthur).
