Make Music Oakland

Make Music Oakland

Celebrate the Winter Solstice on December 21st in the Laurel!

Starting at 3pm at Degrees Plato (High/MacArthur) with a DJ spinning vinyl 45s, we will depart at 3:45pm and make our way up to Ghost Town Brewing (35th St/MacArthur)

by making music throughout the Laurel.

From there, we will walk over to Lounge 3411

for a Harmonica Lesson beginning at 5pm.

The first 20 people there will receive a free harmonica to keep.

After the lesson, blues musicians will entertain us prior to

The Cut featuring Alvon Johnson at 6:45pm!

Save the Date: June 21, 2025

when we will once again celebrate Make Music Oakland on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the city, with music performed by anyone and free for everyone.

About

Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music is celebrated on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in dozens of countries around the world.

Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion shares their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.

2024 will be concentrated in the Laurel District of Oakland, but we anticipate expansion citywide for Saturday, June 21, 2025.
