Make Music China
Led by the China Musical Instruments Association, Make Music China grew to 4,000 events in 160 cities in 2019, featuring 160,000 performers across the country. Highlights included traditional Chinese music at Beijing’s Temple of Heaven, school band performances, and a government-issued Make Music China postage stamp.
Music Making Across the Country
Make Music China is produced through the China Musical Instruments Association’s 70 co-organizers across the country, many of whom are regional governments, music schools, or other institutions. In 2019, the event kicked off with an opening ceremony at the Beijing 798 Art District, with music throughout the former military factory complex that has been turned into a large cultural campus. Make Music China also introduced its new mascot “Wu Kong”, bringing a unified visual identity to the events.
